Dmitry Illarionov graduated from the Academic Music College at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Natalia Dmitrieva), the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and the RAM assistant internship (class of Professor Alexander Frauchi), then postgraduate studies at the Higher School of Music in Karlsruhe (Germany). Currently, he is an Associate Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Winner of 25 international competitions, including the competition of the Guitar Association of America (GFA), Francisco Tarregui and Andres Segovia in Spain. He has toured in Europe, Asia, the USA, participated in famous festivals in Russia and abroad. One of the founders of the Guitar Virtuosos festival in Moscow, head of the "classical" day of the Guitar World Festival in Kaluga, art director of the International Guitar Festival in Novosibirsk. Member of the jury of the GFA competitions in the USA, Alexander Frauchi in Moscow, the guitar competition in Gorizia (Italy).
The first performer of a number of compositions by Nikita Koshkin, Angelo Gilardino, Sergei Rudnev, Alexey Rybnikov and other authors. He recorded discs at Delos, Naxos, Doberman, Daminus. Participated in the recording of the soundtrack of the film "Passenger" by Stanislav Govorukhin; starred in the documentary "The Battle for the Guitar" and the feature musical film "The Spirit of Sonora" by Alexey Rybnikov.
